We are a charitable branch of the national Womens Institute (registered charity no. 803793) and our fundraising is used to support the members of our branch, and our monthly meetings. We also promote and support community events and promote free local activities that might be of interest to our members.

We are not able to promote individual businesses.

De Beauvoir Association
The association’s newsletter, which reaches over 4250 local addresses, is packed with local news and events. They organise social events and The Party in the Park. www.debeauvoir.org.uk

De Beauvoir Gardeners
The local gardening club’s annual programme includes monthly meetings, usually held on the first Tuesday of the month in the Crypt of St. Peter’s Church, on a wide variety of topics, outings, walkabouts and social events. www.debeauvoirgardeners.org.uk

Welcome Wednesday We have several members who are involved in the Welcome Wednesday initiative run by St Peter’s de Beauvoir church, which provides a social space for local people to meet, chat, do easy activities together and share light lunches of soup, cakes, coffee and tea. This happens every Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 5:00pm. For further information see: www.stpeterdebeauvoir.org.uk

Solace Women’s Aid Solace have been established for around 50 years with the mission to support women and children in London to build stronger and safer lifes, free from violence and abuse. www.solacewomensaid.org.uk

Community Cafe is a regular (last Friday of every month) community hub for locals who meet for a chat and a catch up, for employees of local businesses to take time away from their desks and for some more isolated members of our community to feel part of a friendly group – for everyone, it’s an opportunity to get together and have a hot, home-cooked hot meal. The Cafe is a non-profitmaking enterprise which is supported by donations on the day and organised charitable funders (eg National Lottery funding). The ethos is ‘volunteer if you can – pay what you can’. Those who can support, do – those who can’t pay right now dine as a guest. A number of our members contribute, baking cakes or making other dishes, serving, setting up, clearing away or washing up. All contributions are gratefully received! Expenses will be covered. The menu is usually a soup (often Vegan), a meat main and vegetarian main with vegetables or salad, a dessert and a cake option, plus tea and coffee. If interested, come along to St Peter’s de Beauvoir Crypt on a Cafe day or contact the WI committee who will put you in touch with the right people. You will be warmly welcome.
