Culture Club

This group is open to all members of the DBWI but if you would like to attend a meeting as a guest, please email debeauvoirwi@gmail.com.

A number of members conceived the idea for this group on a bus ride home from a wonderful day spent marching for women and socialising afterwards. Someone stated what fun it would be to attend a movie together every so often. We now have a thriving group that meets for concerts, the theatre, art exhibitions, poetry readings and anything else suggested and agreed upon.

Our vibrant and popular group exists for all members who want to take advantage of the huge and wonderful variety of cultural happenings London has to offer.

2024 has been no exception.

We kicked off the year with a stunning tour of local landmark, the Hackney Empire. Our movie buffs have been on regular cinema visits, notably to see All Of Us Strangers, One Life and Wicked Little Letters. A group of us were lucky enough to go to Sadlers Wells for a thrilling production of Carmen and exhibitions have included the Barbican Textile Exhibition and Fashion City at the Docklands Museum. Our summer highlight was a picnic in Clissold Park on a glorious evening to see a fantastic production of Much Ado About Nothing. The year culminated in a fascinating visit to The Museum of the Home for a guided tour of a beautifully restored alms-house followed by a fabulous and fun evening at Oy Vey Cabaret in Camden expertly compered by our very own Bunny Lestrange.

Culture Club is for everyone so if you’d like to get involved let us know and we will add you to our WhatsApp group.
